FOLLOWING Sunday’s suicide bomb attack on St Finbarr’s Catholic Church, Jos, there was pandemonium on Monday in some parts of the Plateau State capital, as some youths trooped out en masse to avenge the bombing of the church with the death toll consequently rising to 19, as more corpses were taken to hospitals.

Nigerian Tribune learnt that at about 9.00 a.m. on Monday, some youths in their hundreds in places like Tina junction, Filling Ball and Dauala areas of the state capital, trooped out and descended on one another along religious line and at the same time attacked innocent passersby.

In the melee that ensued, scores of people were injured before the arrival of the men of the Special Task Force, who shot sporadically into the air to disperse the youth.

It was gathered that the renewed hostility was as a result of the reprisals on both sides of the divide that trailed the bombing of  Saint Finbarr’s Catholic Church on Sunday, as there were secret killings in some parts of the state capital.

Nigerian Tribune findings revealed that business activities were paralysed in virtually all the commercial areas of the state capital while parents dashed to schools to withdraw their wards who had earlier gone to schools. Read more…
