62 policemen injured in a riot in Belouizdad, Algiers

Algiers- Security services in Algiers have, thanks to surveillance cameras placed around Harcha sports complex, arrest 34 people involved in riots and attacks with knives on 62 policemen, in solidarity with a citizen whose illegal Housing was subject of a decision of demolition.

According to information obtained by Ennahar, it was thanks to surveillance cameras that the 34 rioters were identified and then arrested and brought before the judge in the Second Chamber of the court of Sidi M’hamed in accordance with steps taken by the police following the aggression perpetrated against police agents.

Sixty-two policemen have been seriously assaulted by a gang of thugs and convicts, who claimed to act in solidarity with a local neighbour whose house, built illegally, was about to be demolished following the decision of the municipality, in the town of Sidi M’hamed. Young people have taken this opportunity to organize a sit-in in their neighbourhood and attacked the mayor and the Secretary General who have filed a complaint.
