Huwwara checkpoint closed due to clashes

Ma’an News Agency Friday 05/04/2013,

NABLUS (Ma’an) – Israeli forces shut down Huwwara checkpoint south of Nablus on Thursday afternoon due to clashes between young Palestinians and Israeli troops stationed at the checkpoint.

Local sources told a Ma’an reporter that several demonstrators were hurt as Israeli soldiers showered them with tear-gas canisters.

Separately, a group of Palestinian young men managed to bring down an Israeli flag and hoist a Palestinian flag instead at the entrance of Yitzhar settlement south of Nablus. Read more…
