Tension as clashes erupt in Vadipatti

MADURAI: Tension prevailed at Kachakatti village near Vadipatti in Madurai as members of two castes clashed with each other.

Police have arrested three dalits for the protestsforcing them to stage a protest demanding the arrest of non-dalit kallars. Police said that they are investigating the allegations raised by the dalitsand were taking efforts to arrest the non-dalits.

The clashes erupted on Tuesday night between the dalit pallars, who form the majority in the village and the non-dalit kallars over worshipping in the village temple. The dalits alleged that though they were at the receiving end, police had registered a complaint against five of them and arrested three.
