50 hurt as locals clash with cops in N’ganj

At least 50 people including five policemen were injured in clashes between cops and locals last night over the arrest of a city corporation councillor for allegedly assaulting a sub-inspector.

The councillor’s supporters, wielding sticks, blocked Dhaka-Narayanganj link road at Jalkuri in Siddhirganj area for three hours from 8:00pm to protest the detention. They vandalised at least 10 vehicles, triggering a severe traffic jam on the road. Read more…
