Karnal: Villagers allege police firing in clashes over land

KARNAL: Several persons were injured as residents of four villages clashed with police inLalupura village of Karnal district over vacating 100 acres of land from the possession of wrongful owners.

Even as two villagers, Naresh and Darshan, claimed that they had sustained gunshot injuries in police firing during the clash, police maintained they had returned after getting the land restored to its rightful owners and that clashes happened only after that.

Naresh and Darshan of Lalupura village, who were admitted in trauma centre of Karnal civil hospital, along with some other villagers, said the matter pertaining to the land was pending in court and that they had even got a stay order against any move by the authorities to get it vacated.
