LAHORE: Enraged citizens, on Wednesday, protesting against load shedding in Shahdara, pelted stones at policemen; injuring two of them, and smashed windows of four vehicles. Police registered cases against 70 persons on creating a law and order situation and other charges.
Tormented by 12 to 14-hour-long load shedding in the city, and the subsequent unavailability of water in various areas, the citizens took to streets on Wednesday.
The massive load shedding has not only led to unavailability of water but has also damaged electrical appliances including UPS’ and refrigerators. Extreme hot weather conditions, which according to the Meteorological Department would continue for the next several days, have further added to the miseries of the citizens. Read more…
