Violent clashes have erupted in the Republic of Azerbaijan ahead of hosting the Eurovision song contest.
The clashes broke out in Baku on Monday as police tried to prevent a large number of protesters from marching towards the mayor’s office.
Police beat the demonstrators, who were demanding freedom of assembly, the release of political prisoners and the resignation of the government.
