Fresh clashes at Medak in spite of curfew

Situation in the riot-hit Sangareddy town of Medak district in Andhra Pradesh continued to be tense as fresh incidents of group clashes and stone pelting took place on Friday despite the imposition of curfew last night.
The riots broke out late last night after some miscreants published a distorted photo of a religious place on the Facebook offending the sentiments of a community. The police said there was stone-pelting by one community against the miscreants.
During the violence which continued till late in to the night, several shops and kiosks were burnt and vehicles including auto rickshaws and two vans were burnt and one police jeep was also damaged. More than a dozen people including policemen were injured. read more…
