Falklands War veterans clash with police in Argentina over pensions

There were angry scenes between police and a group of Falklands War veterans in Buenos Aires as they blocked one of the city’s major avenues and demanded inclusion in a pension plan for solders.
Riot police moved in to break up the demonstration after protesters blocked a major central highway in the Argentine city.
The ex-soldiers, who began their protest Monday night, hurled rocks, sticks and other projectiles before they were beaten back with batons and riot shields.
The protesting veterans, who were deployed in the 1982 Falklands War when Argentina invaded the British-ruled South Atlantic islands, are disqualified from a Falklands war veterans package because they were never actually deployed on the islands, which are known as Las Malvinas in Argentina.
