Irate youths hijack Minna protests

Protests against the removal of fuel subsidy in Niger State took a violent turn on Wednesday when youths hijacked the action from the organized labour and destroyed properties in Minna, the state capital.
The situation in Minna forced the state government to deploy armed soldiers to strategic areas in the state capital.
A team of armed soldiers were also detached to the Government House, while the major roads leading to the governor’s residence are being manned by a combined team of armed soldiers, policemen and State Security Service
In what looked like an organized action, youths from different parts of the town gathered as early 8:00 am and blocked major roads in the state capital. Read more…
