12 Occupy Oakland activists arrested; camp dismantled again

Oakland police arrested 12 Occupy activists camping in front of City Hall after the protesters refused to comply with terms of their permit, officials said Thursday.
Officers dressed in riot gear surrounded the protesters and dismantled the Occupy Oakland camp in Frank Ogawa Plaza once again, KGO-TV reported. As many as 12 arrests were made as protesters refused to leave the encampment.
City officials said the group violated the permit issued by the city that allowed protesters to remain in the plaza. Occupy Oakland organizers were allowed to erect a teepee but were told they had to remove the structure nightly and not use it for cooking or food storage.
The protesters ignored multiple warnings and encounters, city officials said, and their permit was revoked Tuesday. Read more…
