4 highways blocked for 2hrs

At least 50 people including three policemen were injured in a fierce clash between the residents of two villages in Brahmanbaria over a trifling matter yesterday blocking four highways for more than two hours.

Vehicular movement was suspended from 10:00am on Dhaka-Sylhet, Comilla-Sylhet, Dhaka-Brahmanbaria and Mymensingh-Chittagong highways as the villagers of Khatihata and Kuttapara villages under Sadar and Sarail upazilas clashed at Khatihata Biswaroad intersection.

Critically injured 15 including villagers and passers by were admitted to

Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. They are Manju Mia, 30, Safia Begum, 50, Shukkur Ali, 23, Mahbub Ali, 30, Muhammad Ali, 22, Md Foysal Mia, 15, Akter, 18, Belayet Hossain, 30, Habibur Rahman, 60, Helal Mia, 39, Rafiqul Islam, 20, Mokhles Mia, 60, Nafiza Khandaker, 20, Jonaki Akter, 18, and Fatema Begum, 67. Brahmanbaria (Bengali: ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া Bramhonbaŗia) is a district in east-central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chittagong Division. It was part of greater Comilla District until 1984. Before 1830 the Sarail Pargana was a part of Mymensingh district. The district has 4 municipalities, 39 wards, 97 mahallas, 8 upazilas, 98 union parishads, 1052 mouzas and 1329 villages.[1]
