Over a dozen injured, APC burnt Gas protests turn violent

ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: Fresh gas riots left over a dozen people including policemen injured and armoured personnel carrier (APC) charred on Islamabad Expressway on Friday.
The protest also rendered hundreds of vehicles stranded from Faizabad to Zero Point and KRL Cowk to Sihala and the adjacent roads.
After sunset, hundreds of residents of Sohan, Dhok Kalakhan, Shakrial, Iqbal Town, and Khan East and West poured out of there houses and gathered on Islamabad Expressway and Latherar Road.
The protesters included women, children, old and young and some political activists chanted slogans against gas loadshedding. They also made announcements on microphones and beat tin canisters to gather the people for the protests.
A police officer said, “It was a massive human gathering stretching from Fayazabad to KRL Chowak.” Read more…
