Death of 10-Year Boy Sparks Off Riot in Lokoja

Lokoja — HELL was let loose yesterday morning when resident of Felele village close to Lokoja the state capital went on rampage over a motor accident which claimed the life of a 10 year old boy along the ever busy Okene-Felele-Abuja high way road.

The resident of Felele who blocked the major highway with burnt fire went on rampage as they attacked any vehicles that are traveling along the road either to Abuja or Okene respectively.

Sources informed our correspondent that the accident happened when the ten year old boy wanted to cross the road to the other side when an incoming vehicle that was heading to the north in high speed crushed the boy to death and speed off to avoid arrest.

The action of the runaway driver angered the resident as they blocked the road and set up burnt fire as a sign of protest as all incoming vehicles had to stop or make ‘U’ turn to avoid the anger of the protesters.

It took the intervention of the armed Police men to quench the burnt tyres and also dispersed the protesters. Read more…
