Colombian football fans riot after relegation

Football fans have wreaked havoc in the city of Cali in Colombia after their team was relegated to the second division of the national league.

The riots began after America de Cali lost 3-4 against Tunja’s Patriotas.

Fans took to the field and tried to attack the players. They also tried to break into the team’s locker rooms.

Police say a small incendiary was thrown into the crowd, injuring five people. Others were beaten and attacked with knives.

12 people were injured, with rioters damaging several stores and 160 cars. At least 66 people have been arrested. Read more…
