SANTIAGO, Chile — Protesters have clashed with Chilean police during a demonstration against plans to build an airport on land claimed by the Mapuche indigenous group.
The Mapuche protesters hurled rocks and one fired a gun during the protest.
Police used tear gas against the protesters, who covered their faces as they blocked a highway in the southern region of Araucania.
