Police use Tear Gas, Clash with Rioters in Salt over Resident’s Death

AMMONNEWS – Over a thousand young men rioted in the city of Salt on Tuesday, blocking the main Amman-Salt road in both directions, burning tires, and throwing rocks at anti-riot police in protest of the police’s narrative over the death of a local resident.

Muhammad Rahahleh died on Sunday in a collision between a car he was driving and another while he was being chased by police, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said.

Rahahleh’s family refused the police narrative which stated that the man who was wanted by police was killed by a private vehicle during the chase.

The family blamed police for Rahahleh’s death and accused security forces of killing him. Read more…

Salt (En arabe : al-salṭ, السلط, prononcé as-salṭ ou as-sulṭ) est la capitale de la province de Balqa en Jordanie. Elle est construite sur les flancs de trois collines dont l’une d’entre-elles est couronnée par une forteresse du xiiie siècle. Elle est proche de la vallée du Jourdain.
