Clashes in old city

Clashes between youth and force personnel broke out in old city here on Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses said that scores of youth took to the streets this afternoon to protest against what they termed unjustified arrests. Police and paramilitary CRPF men deployed in the area resorted to baton charge to disperse the protesters, who retaliated with stones triggering clashes, which continued till late in the evening.
Business establishments and shops remained closed in parts of old city like Rajouri Kadal, Gojwara, Bohri Kadal and Saraf Kadal. The traffic movement was also thin.
