A half-dozen Occupy Seattle protesters were arrested and several were struck with pepper spray after a Wednesday afternoon rally outside a Chase bank branch on Capitol Hill.
Demonstrators linked themselves together inside the bank at Broadway East and East Thomas Street using a device that looked similar to PVC piping. Earlier, one demonstrator said five were planning to stay inside the bank until they were arrested.
Detective Jeff Kappel said the protesters, three men and two women, were preventing customers from reaching the tellers and didn’t respond to officer commands. Protesters outside also blocked people from using the ATM and complained about corporate greed.
When officers who had monitored the protest moved on the demonstrators inside the bank, the crowd became upset. They were taken out an entrance, and the crowd was blocked by a line of officers on both sides. Read more…
