DENVER — Violence erupted in downtown Denver Saturday when Occupy Denver protestor and police clashed in front of the State Capitol.
Witnesses say the day began peacefully when the group ended a march at the north steps of the capitol, at which point the State Patrol would not let the protesters loiter.
With the help of Denver Police, the protesters were “pushed back” from the capitol steps.
Unidentified protesters tell FOX31 Denver that police showed up in riot gear when some of the protesters began stringing tarps between trees in Civic Center Park, adding that police began moving through the park taking down anything that could be used for shelter.

Witnesses say some in the crowd were throwing objects at police, and that a police officer patrolling the protest on a motorcycle was pushed off his bike. Read more …
