Midnapore, Sept. 27: Clashes have broken out in Keshpur, once known as the killing field of Bengal, after a murder for which the Trinamul Congress blamed the CPM that in turn pointed fingers at infighting in the ruling party.
Alleged Trinamul activists ransacked a CPM office this morning after rumours spread that 200 of those involved in the murder yesterday were hiding there.
Nearly 200 Trinamul activists laid siege to the CPM’s zonal committee office, set the furniture on fire and beat up four CPM supporters. Police managed to rescue 45 others who were on the first floor of the office, known as Jamshed Ali Bhavan.
The Trinamul activists were part of a funeral procession of Sheikh Samiat, who was killed in the clash with alleged CPM activists. Read more…
