BEIJING — Nearly 100 people, some armed with clubs, fought at a hospital in eastern China earlier this week after the relatives of a patient who died confronted staff, state media said on Thursday.
Fifteen people were hurt and cars were damaged after more than 30 relatives of a patient who died at the hospital in Jiangxi province forced their way inside the building on Tuesday, China National Radio said.
Witnesses who posted online said more than 80 hospital staff armed with wooden clubs and wearing red armbands to identify themselves retaliated by beating the protesters.
« The people doing the beating were very organised. They suddenly burst from the hospital and seized the chance to beat the family members (of the patient), » one witness posted under the name Wo Ye Fan He Tang.
The patient, Fan Runyin, was admitted to the hospital on August 19 after suffering a brain haemorrhage, and relatives said he died on the operating table. The hospital declined to comment Thursday.
Such conflicts have become more common in China, as people protest against the quality of healthcare or corruption in the hospital system. Read more…

PEKÍN. Doscientas personas armadas con palos y barras de metal protagonizaron enfrentamientos violentos en un hospital del este de China, a raíz de la muerte de un paciente en el quirófano, informa este miércoles la prensa independiente china.
Los hechos ocurrieron en el Hospital Número Uno de Nanchang, capital de la provincia oriental de Jiangxi, y se iniciaron cuando unos cien familiares y amigos del fallecido se presentaron en el centro médico armados con objetos contundentes y exigieron explicaciones por la muerte del paciente.
La protesta se convirtió en reyerta cuando otro centenar de personas, también armadas con palos, emboscaron al otro grupo, señaló el diario “South China Morning Post”.

广州居民指责官员，从处理地方合作社及地方选举时，挪用400多万元人民币，贪污85万元。

这是在南昌第二宗同类型事件。在六月底，两名病人亲属被殴打致死，四人受伤，当他们伴随着几十个亲友，冲进南昌大学附属医院，在那里他们受一批身份不明男子穿着类似警服袭击。
据2011年的研究，中国已至少有九万宗大规模抗议，但相信数字未反映真实现象。
中国社会科学院于2007年公布的示威数字为八万宗，自此，再没有发布新的数字。
