Northern Ireland police have been targeted by some 100 protestors in Portadown who hit officers with petrol bombs and other missiles over night on Friday.
Police confirmed they fired plastic baton rounds to disperse rioters in the Corcrain area of the town in County Armagh.
The force said rioters used petrol bombs, bricks, fireworks and other missiles to hit the police at the interface areas between Corcrain Road and Obins Drive.
This comes as the trouble forced the police to issue warnings to motorists to keep away from the Corcrain and Ballyoran areas, Obins Drive, Union Street and surrounding areas of Portadown.
Northern Ireland Police have been the target of attacks over the past week before and after the pro-British orange Order parades on July 12 that led to serious clashes between loyalists and Catholic nationalists. Read more…
