Sectarian Clashes Erupt in North Lebanon

On June 18th, the Lebanese army set up checkpoints in two neighborhoods and carried out raids, in the northern city of Tripoli, after sectarian clashes broke out.
Four people were killed and 46 injured, when gunmen from Bab Al Tebbaneh, a Sunni Muslim neighborhood, and Jabal Mohsen, an Alawite neighborhood fought after protests supporting Syrian demonstrators took place.
Although sectarian fights often occurs, Friday’s incident comes at a time when tension is escalating across the northern border. More news…
