RAWALPINDI: The unruly protesters enraged over the prolonged power outages on Friday blocked main Peshawar Road at three points for more than three hours. The frenzy protesters attacked at a police post in Naseerabad Area smashed traffic signals besides damaging public transport vehicles.
The police reached at the spot to control the enraged protestors but failed to do so. The protestors started pelting stones at the police, which in the beginning was at the run but later resorted to tear gas and aerial firing.
The police also baton charged the protests but the enraged protestors were seemed uncontrollable.
The protestors started gathering at Churr Chowk, Pirwadhai Morr soon after the Friday prayers and chanted slogans against the federal government for failing to control the unscheduled and untimely power outages.
They said that they have left with no option but to come on the roads as they are passing from the worst amid scorching summer weather and no electricity. Read more…
