Student protester killed in clashes in south Yemen: witnesses

SANAA, May 7 2011 (Xinhua) — Yemeni police forces opened fire to disperse a student demonstration calling for postponing exams due to the continuing unrest in southern Taiz province on Saturday, killing at least one student and injuring 13 others, eyewitnesses said.
The 13-year-old Mohamed Al-Salwai was shot dead and 13 other students, including a girl, were wounded when police and armed government-backers opened fire on the students who insisted not to take the final exams until President Ali Abdullah Saleh leaves office.
The clashes took place in Al-Maafir district in Taiz, where tens of thousands of students marched on Saturday.
