DHAKA, Bangladesh, Nov. 16 (UPI) — Police used batons, rubber bullets and tear gas to clear the streets of the capital as rioting Bangladesh Nationalist Party supporters called for a general strike.
There were no reported deaths in the second successive day of street clashes but around 200 people, many of them belonging to the opposition BNP, were injured.
Police said they arrested around 300 people.
Several hundred BNP supporters gathered near party headquarters, blocking streets and taunting police who often made forays into the poorly armed protesters….

DACCA — Des dizaines de personnes ont été blessées dimanche au Bangladesh lors d’affrontements dans les grandes villes opposant la police à des partisans de l’ex-Premier ministre Khaleda Zia expulsée de son domicile la veille cependant que le pays était paralysé par une grève nationale.
Au moins 100 militants de l’opposition ont été arrêtés, accusés d’avoir attaqué la police avec des bombes de faible puissance et des pierres, et d’avoir incendié des véhicules, ont indiqué des responsables de la police….
