SRINAGAR, India — Indian police said Friday they had opened fire on stone-throwing protesters in Kashmir, injuring four people in central Budgam district in the latest clash in the restive Himalayan region.
« Security forces opened fire to control stone-throwing protesters. Four people have been injured. Two of the injured are critical, » a local police officer said, asking not to be named.
Late on Thursday, seven protesters were injured when security forces opened fire at two separate places in Sopore town, 50 kilometres (30 miles) north of the main town of Srinagar.

Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir: One person has died and three others have been injured in clashes between protesters and forces in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
Clashes are also being reported in Chachilora Tangmarg in Baramulla, where one person has been injured.
The entire Kashmir Valley has been under curfew for the last five days.
Air services to and from Srinagar, which were suspended for three days for the first time since the Kargil war 11 years ago, resumed on Friday.
