Rakan Qadah – Security forces on Sunday afternoon intensified their presence in the town of Karameh in Southern Shuneh after riots erupted following the murder of a young man.

Police had found the body of a man near his house in Salt governorate Saturday night, apparently murdered by an acquaintance of his following dispute over financial matters.

Press Spokesperson of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) Lt. Colonel Muhammad Khatib said that Al Balqaa Police department received notice Saturday night of a dead body lying near the street after being stabbed several times.

Khatib noted that authorities and forensics experts rushed to the scene and transferred the body to the Forensics Medical Center for an autopsy.

An investigation team was formed and the suspect was identified and arrested.

Khatib said that investigators found that the victim had owned a auto shop for bus repair and that the suspect had fixed his vehicle at the shop, but a dispute over payment erupted between the two leading the suspect to stab the victim several times and causing his death.

Security forces deployed in the town of Karameh to Sunday morning prevent any further escalation in violence between families of both parties. Meanwhile, eyewitnesses told ‘Ammon News’ that riots had erupted in the area after news of the murder spread.

Dozens of young men gathered near the victim’s house causing security forces to rush to the area to disperse the crowds.
