Mob clashes with police damages police vehicle

A mob clashed with the police and damaged a police vehicle at Mathurapur demanding that a person, who had snatched money from people be handed over to them, police sources said.

A man was robbed when he was returning from the market at Mathurapur. But the local people immediately caught hold of the snatcher and started beating him, the sources said.

A police team arrived at the spot and took the snatcher in its custody. But the mob demanded that the snatcher be handed over to them and clashed with the police and damaged a police vehicle, the sources said.

A large police contingent has arrived at the spot, the sources added.
