One killed, 3 injured in Ancholi

KARACHI: Unknown assailants shot and killed a 20-year-old person and hurt three others in late night attack in Ancholi area of Karachi, police said Thursday.

The deceased was identified by Ali Raza, who was a resident of Block 20.

As a result of the killing, enraged persons surrounded several houses and tried to enter and break them. The people locked themselves in the houses in a bid to avoid any untoward situation.

Meanwhile, police reached the area and arrested three trouble makers.

Earlier, police restored to shelling and aerial firing to disperse the enraged activists of two religious parties in Ancholi and Federal B Area of Karachi late Thursday night.

The tension began when a religious group took out a rally near Water Pump and chanted slogans against their rival group.

Within no time, members of the other rival groups also reached the scene and pelted stones.

Meanwhile, the police restored to aerial firing and shelling to bring the situation under control.

The police reopened Shahra-e-Pakistan for traffic after some time.

Two groups firing clash in Karachi

KARACHI: After a clash two religious groups started exchange of fire in Godhra area of New Karachi, reported SAMAA on Thursday.

According to details angry supporters of both religious groups, burnt seven shops and two houses in the area while 3 persons were also injured in these armed clashes.

Rioters continued attacking each other and creating unrest in the area. Due to unfavorable business conditions all shops of area were closed and routine business came to a halt.

Later on heavy contingents of police and rangers reached in the area and started to bring calm in the area. They dispersed trouble makers from many streets and taken one Imam of local mosque in custody.
