At least 15 people were injured in an incident of chase and counter chase between Bangladesh Chhatra League of Kushtia Government College unit and the town Jubo League activists on the campus on Monday.

The incident occurred a day after the college authorities were forced to stop the first year honours admission process as they turned down BCL activists’ demand to enroll 200 students illegally.

Campus sources said Kushtia town Jubo League, led by it general secretary Hannan Biswas, entered the campus around 11:00am.

They locked into an altercation with the activists of BCL college unit following establishing supremacy over the college campus.

At one stage of altercation, chase and counter-chase ensued between them that left 15 injured, reports our Kushtia correspondent.

Two shots were fired and two cocktails exploded during the incident.

On information, police rushed to the spot and lobbed six fire shells to disperse the activities.

A tense situation is prevailing on the college campus. Additional police have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
